When Ashley was 19 months old she was diagnosed with bi-lateral Wilm’s tumors-tumors in both kidneys.  After 6 months of chemotherapy she was scanned and the tumors returned.  Doctors removed part of her right kidney and began more aggressive chemotherapy.  In July 2004 doctors put Ashley in pre-remission.  Then exactly 1 year from that date she was rescanned and the doctors found the tumors returned again.  Ashley is the ONLY child to have this cancer return a 3rd time.  She underwent another surgery to remove more of her right kidney and began radiation and chemotherapy.  She is still not in remission.

Ashley's cancer has caused great strain on her single mother raising Ashley and her sister Bryanna.   Thanks to family, friends and generous people she has been able to make it through very tough times.  The family knows how hard it is as a family and a single parent to provide the basics - place to live, food on the table, gas in the car, parking fees, heat and electricity, phone (including cell), etc.  Jennifer Nelich founded Ashley's Hope in October 2006 to assist families that truly need the help and to give them back HOPE!
